Penedés D.O. is located in the province of Barcelona, between the Catalan coastal hills and the Mediterranean coastline. The region is divided into three separate areas: Upper Penedés, Central Penedés and Lower Penedés. The mild climate is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. In Penedés the soil is deep, but very poor in organic matter and not very fertile.
