Mentrida D.O., located north of the province of Toledo at an altitude varying between 400 and 600 meters above sea level, is an old but almost unknown winemaking area. It is delimited to the east by the Sierra de Gredos and the south by the river Tajo. The soil is mainly made of clay with some limestone and very little organic matter, but has excellent water-retention capabilities. The extreme continental climate, with very hot summers and cold winters, ensures good conditions for an optimal maturing of the grapes.
